Growing in Grace and Knowledge

Faith (noun) – Hebrews 11:1 – Confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

My daughter and I were having a conversation about the extraordinary beauty here on earth. The discussion started while we were driving one day. The sun was setting, and even my youngest exclaimed, “Wow!” at the brilliant colors of yellow, orange, pink, and streaks of purple painted across the horizon. I made a comment about God being an artist, and how kind it is of Him to give us something so beautiful to see. Jade added that it’s hard to imagine someone not believing in God, because a sunset like that doesn’t happen by accident.

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”
~ Psalm 19:1

My daughter’s conclusion is a demonstration of faith. We know there is a God, yet we cannot see Him with our eyes. Instead, we see the evidence of Him as the Creator. As the psalm above states, the evening sky we viewed proclaimed the work of God’s hands.

“For we live by faith, not by sight.”
~ 2 Corinthians 5:7

In Matthew 8:23-27, Jesus and his disciples were in a boat, and while Jesus slept, a violent storm caused waves to crash into the boat. They were terrified and said to Jesus, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!” He said, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Jesus then rebuked the winds and waves and they obeyed Him. All was calm. The men were astounded that when Jesus spoke: the wind and waves obeyed.

We are incredibly blessed to be His followers. The more we learn from God’s Word, the closer we bring ourselves to Him. So commit yourself to daily bible study, and challenge yourself to study the bible with someone. Your faith will undoubtably grow.

“For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
~ 2 Peter 1:5-8

  1. To know Him ( the artist) is to love and enjoy the beautiful signs!
